Fairmount Notes is an independent, reader-supported publication covering Fairmount and the surrounding river wards. We are less a wire service and more a notebook kept in public: we chase the story of a place through its zoning hearings, its corner kitchens, its stubborn traditions, and the arguments neighbors have on porches and in comment sections.

Our focus is deliberately local. We write about the things that shape daily life here but rarely make the regional papers: a bus route that quietly changed, a mural that appeared overnight, a family bakery that finally reopened. When we cover a larger issue, we cover it from the sidewalk up.

We publish essays, reported dispatches, listings, and the occasional unrepentant opinion. Everything here is written for people who already know which hill is the steep one.
